At det
nye år hedder 2011 ligger fast. Til gengæld mangler vi den overskrift, det ord eller begreb, som får det nye artists’ book projekt til at falde HELT på plads… (forslag modtages med kyshånd…)
Indtil noget eventuelt nyt og helt genialt viser sig, arbejder vi ud fra titlen “Boning och Identitet”. For det er, hvad det nye projekt kommer til at bevæge sig rundt om. En udforskning og visualisering af begreberne boning/hjem – og identitet.
Så kære CONTEXTfolk. Det gamle år går nu på hæld. Måske en anledning til at gøre status over tilværelsen?! Dit ståsted? Situationen på hjemmefronten? Krop, sjæl, identitet?
Vi vil glæde os til – på et tidspunkt – at se jeres refleksioner over disse og andre beslægtede forhold – i bogform.

So dear CONTEXT people. At the borderline to 2011 – an opportunity to take stock of our lives perhaps ?! Body, soul, home, identity?
We look forward to see your reflections on these matters – in book form – some time in the coming year.

NB. We are going to complement the CONTEXT group with new people – especially we are interested in contacts with artists from Greenland and the Faroe Islands this time … Do you know (or are you) an artist who works with artists’ books from one of these countries please tell!
Habitat brukes i økologien om den områdetypen en art helst velger å holde til i. Det vil si det området der de fysiske og biologiske forholda er best i samsvar med artens spesifikke krav til livsmiljø.

Tak for strøtanken! Ikke helt skæv. Vi vil jo godt ramme et udtryk der er lige brugbart/forståeligt på alle de nordiske sprog (+ engelsk…)

Few thoughts on the concept and titel:
I somehow feel that the idea on identity AND habitat is close to the concept of:
UPPRUNI – ORIGIN – OPRIND
(origin |ˈôrəjən|noun
the beginning of something’s existence
a person’s social background or ancestry
the place or situation from which something comes)
or
RÆTUR – ROOTS – RØDDER
with obvious connections to land, home, people etc.
But on other hand:”boning” – a home or “at home” is a pretty large concept. Just as Elisabeth says, habitat is covers a lot.
HÍBÝLI / BÚSTAÐUR / HEIMILI – HOME / HABITATION – BOSTED / BO …
The icelandic word : HEIMUR (old nordic: HEIMR) means WORLD – VERDEN
HEIMA means at HOME – HJEMME.
A very interesting connection between conceptions for surroundings big and small, far and near.
