Arkir, always at it? Almost…

Arkir eru alltaf að …

arkir14mai

At last a sign of life from Arkir! We have been all too quiet! Sorry about that. Yet the Arkir group has had a couple of meetings to keep up the spirit. As usual all members are busy doing something terribly interesting and important OTHER than books for the exhibition… – all though nothing could be more important or interesting than the CON-TEXT book-works! Right? But now nights are bright and we are sharpening knifes and polishing our bonefolders to meet the coming strain.

The photos from our meeting on the 14th of May. More photos at Arkir – Áslaug’s Blog.

Paper, ink and brush

Svanborg was just back from a trip to Japan (wouldn’t we all like to have been…!) and brought us a fresh crop of green tea, some very sophisticated paper and examples of work from her lesson in Japanese ink painting. And of course she gave us a mini-course and we gave the bamboo a try!

Svo kom Helga Pálína frá sínu verkstæði. And then Helga Pálína showed up:

Fjallablúndur

Helga Pálína var búin að æta og þrykkja dýra dúka fyrir sumarsýninguna „Hring eftir hring“ á Heimilisiðnaðarsafninu á Blönduósi, sem opnar 1. júní. Magnaðar fjallablúndur þyrluðust upp úr farteski Helgu.

 Mountain laces

Helga Pálína has been working on her textiles for an exhibition in The Textile Museum in Blönduós. We were all fascinated by her magnificent mountain laces!

Og svo var pælt í bókunum! And then we turned to the books:

Bókaheilabrot

Við hinar vorum svo að dóta í bókum. Það eru ekki síst skylduverkefnið, töskurnar góðu, sem valda heilabrotum, jafnvel smá verkkvíða og stíflum. En það gerir verkefnið auðvitað bara meira krefjandi, ögrandi …

Books

The rest of us kept worming around the books. Some find the suitcase project hard to do. In that case… it’s challenging!

Wauuu … looks so good! Enjoyed reading your “Arkir-story”! I’m curious to hear who has made the black and white book – the last picture? I would love to see all of it!

  2. Aha! The black and white book is by Anna Snædís Sigmarsdóttir, „All things white” she called it, or something like that… Perhaps it will show up in Silkeborg!
